Talking Up EfficientGovNow to Encourage Participation

Organizers of EfficientGovNow are hitting the road this month and next to spread the word among local officials about the second round of the competitive grants program aimed at accelerating government collaboration and efficiency in Northeast Ohio.

Representatives from the Fund for Our Economic Future and Kent State University’s Center for Public Administration & Public Policy will be making presentations on the EfficientGovNow competition to encourage local officials to put together a government collaboration project eligible to receive some of the $330,000 in grant money that is available. Last year, these meetings helped persuade 294 government entities, representing 14 of Northeast Ohio’s 16 counties, and their partners to submit 65 project ideas to the first round of EfficientGovNow.

This year we’re hoping to get even more projects submitted, and we’d love to get projects from all 16 counties.

In the next few weeks we’ll be kept busy making presentations to:

  • Ashland Area Council for Economic Development
  • Ashland City Council
  • Ashtabula Growth Partnership
  • Chagrin Valley Intergovernmental Council
  • City of Medina, Montville Township, Lafayette Township and York Township
  • Cleveland City Council Caucus
  • First Suburbs Consortium
  • Lorain County Community Alliance
  • Medina County Economic Development Corporation
  • Medina County Township Trustees Association
  • Northeast Ohio Trade & Economic Consortium
  • Stark Development Board
  • Team Lorain County
  • Tri County Municipal Clerks
  • Western Reserve Municipal Clerks

More engagement meetings are on the horizon in the coming weeks. The deadline for government officials to indicate their intent to participate in EfficientGovNow (by turning in a project abstract) is February 26.
