EfficientGovNow project ideas continue to arrive

A week ahead of the abstract deadline, the second round of EfficientGovNow has received five project abstracts. We’re excited to see an impressive number of communities involved in each of the project ideas we’ve seen so far:

  • Seventeen government entities in Ashtabula County collectively propose to create a network of local government staff to provide countywide, coordinated strategic planning services regarding land use planning.
  • Nine villages spanning five counties propose banding together to acquire a mobile sewer televising inspection system, saying the shared equipment would make for more efficient public services, provide a savings to tax-payers and meet a pressing infrastructure need of each village.
  • Thirty-seven government entities in Stark County propose to consolidate eleven dispatch centers into a countywide 911 dispatch center that could provide an estimated savings of more than two million dollars to area political subdivisions.
  • Eight township and village fire departments serving 11 communities in eastern Lake County propose to collaborate with each other and the county by interconnecting their records management systems into a centralized 911 dispatch center database, resulting in tremendously improved efficiencies.
  • Five southern Summit County school districts aim to collaboratively provide an alternative to students experiencing difficulties due to behavior issues and/or out-of-school suspensions. The schools propose to provide an alternative school setting where such students can maintain school work with the help of a small classroom environment and additional counseling.

And, we’ll keep you posted as more project ideas arrive. Don’t miss your opportunity to encourage local government entities to participate. The deadline for government officials to submit project ideas is 5 p.m. on February 26, 2010.
