The Southern Suburbs Council of Governments, consisting of Broadview Heights, Brooklyn Heights, Cuyahoga Heights, Independence, Seven Hills, Valley View and Walton Hills, is working hard to win some of the $300,000 in grant money being made available by the Fund for Our Economic Future in the EfficientGovNow program.
The seven suburbs are proposing creating a joint fire district, a joint interstate safety force and joint dispatch district for safety forces. Officials in these seven communities are demonstrating what can happen when governments begin to collaborate rather than compete.
